The Women’s Economy Council of Kongreya Star formed six special cooperative societies for women in coordination with the Agricultural Centre in Girkê Legê [Al-Muabbada], in which 300 women participated in planting 600 hectares of agricultural land.
The Economy Council of Kongreya Star formed special cooperative societies for women in coordination with the Agricultural Centre in Girkê Legê, with the aim of developing the communal economy and to reinforce the culture of cooperation and enhance the women’s economy.
Last November, the Women’s Economy Council of Kongreya Star held a series of meetings in Girkê Legê, Alya village, Jal Agha town and Til Koçer [Al Yaarubiyah], during which administrative bodies consisting of five people were elected for each cooperative.
According to the administrators in the Women’s Economy Council in Kongreya Star, each cooperative has 50-60 members, each paying a subscription fee of 20,000 SYP. 600 hectares of agricultural land will be allocated to the coops.
The administrators confirmed that the aim of forming the agricultural cooperatives is to support the women’s economy, especially low-income families, as well as to enhance the culture of the communal economy.
The Agricultural Centre in Girkê Legê contributes by providing seeds and fertiliser to the agricultural cooperatives, so that they can begin work.
The agricultural cooperatives began plowing the land and planting the seeds.
